Want Toned Legs? Get on Your Bike

Cycling is a fantastic sport that is enjoyed all over the world by millions of people each day. Lots of people ride a bike just as a means of transport, whilst others include cycling heavily in their fitness regime. The fitness benefits for your muscles varies quite a lot depending on which type of cycling you do. If you cycle very long distances at relatively low intensity, your muscles will become very good at endurance and will build many slow-twitch fibres. Conversely, it is powerful fast-twitch fibres that are built when your riding style is of high intensity but over shorter periods of time. So which muscles get worked the hardest when you ride a bike.

Quadriceps (thighs). The muscles that are worked the hardest whilst cycling and so need to be the most developed are the quads. These muscles work to extend the knee joint and provide a downward force on the pedals, which is then passed onto the crank. Racing bikes in fact are designed to locate the quads directly over the crack so that maximum efficiency is achieved. When travelling at speed the quadriceps contract and relax at an incredible rate and a great deal is demanded of them.

Gastrocnemius (calf). The muscles of the calf work just as hard as those of the thigh, and relative to their size they produce a lot of power. Flexing the calf muscles when the leg is in a straight position, points the toes towards and adds a small boost to the overall power output. Pinarello make pedals that dynamically pivot to squeeze every last bit of power juice from the calf muscles.

Hamstrings. Whist the quadriceps provide the downward power that propels the bike forwards, it is the hamstrings (back of the legs) that work to bring the leg back up into a flexed (bent) position. This doesn’t require much force on a standard bike as the rotation of the pedals pushes the leg up but when you use cycling shoes that clip to the pedals, a large amount of additional force can be generated by these muscles in the upward movement

Different Colours of Cycling Sunglasses

Dirt, insects, the wind and sunlight, all these make bike riding almost impossible, particularly in competitions. Cycling sunglasses therefore have multiple protective functions, providing eye comfort and safety at the same time. Besides the possibility of foreign bodies entering the eyes, the highest risk you expose yourself to, when riding without sunglasses, is eye damage because of ultraviolet and infrared radiations. High quality shades make the difference between amateurs and pros. Here are some suggestions on how to choose cycling sunglasses for prolonged outdoor use, although the list will be far from complete.

Finding the right pair of cycling sunglasses is not easy. Lots of users are keen on a certain brand or product and when it goes out of stock or the style disappears, they are at a loss about what to find as substitutes for their old cycling sunglasses. fit well on the face, and this applies to wraparounds in particular. Such designs will keep dirt, pollutants and sun rays away from your eyes. Wraparounds can trap moisture in the eye area and make the lenses foggy, therefore, check the design for air wholes in the frames.

Many pros choose cycling sunglasses with interchangeable lenses. You should change the lenses depending on weather variations because the needs differ on bright sunshine or dull overcast days. Cycling sunglasses with gray lenses are the most efficient and widely practical for almost all types of weather. However, amber lenses make terrain variations more obvious and yellow ones are ideal on foggy weather. Interchangeable cycling sunglasses are definitely more expensive, but they are definitely worthy the investment if cycling is a life style for the wearer.

Depending on individual needs, cycling sunglasses could be made on prescription. Eye correction could be necessary on a regular basis and without the adjustments made to the sunglasses you won’t be able to enjoy such eyewear. Some users even choose to match prescription lenses with cycling sunglasses by a mechanism that allows the prescription lenses to get fit behind the standard cycling ones. As for the average price, the best cycling sunglasses cost between $ 100 and $ 200, but many good items come a bit cheaper. Sports stores often have sales and promotions and you can get some serious discounts too, which should make quality eyewear more accessible to the average user.

Road Bike Cycling - Remedy for Obesity

Solving Weight Loss Problem:

Road bike cycling, as in many other training exercises which are specific to achieving certain objective and goal, it’s vital to keep in mind two major ingredients for the recipe to success a) consistency, regularity and patience b) start with a little but gradually build up your exercise time systematically.

Finding the solution for the obesity problem becomes more important and vital for you to solve when you immediately come to know that there are other messes that need remedies as well. My friend, don’t worry, you & I are in same boat, actually I’m speaking with my own experience here.

I am the living proof, take me as an example, I sucessfully eliminated twenty five pounds of fat from my system over the period of just three months, just by road bike cycling, not very much concentrating on the diet control.

You see, to obtain the end result, in my case, reduction of excessive weight from the body through bike cycling, you have to be focused and consistent enough for the quick out come. To have the basic "blue print" to go with your desired plan of action, it is imperative to have it right from the beginning. In the case of road bike cycling, for example, few factors must be taken under consideration to accomplish quicker and safest results. These factors are:

Age:

  • Your age, if you’re above 50 than please consult physician before implementing any hardship or physical activity on the body. Anyway, this design is 99.9% safe for the folks under 45 years.

Warming up:

  • Warm up, I can’t emphasise enough on warming up before and after the cycling, just do little bit of jumping, jogging or sit-ups sufficient to get your heart rate up by 70% maximum. This bit of exercise will keep you away from unlimited unforeseen problems and harms.

Keep at Lower Gear:

  • Shift to a lower gear and start bike cycling hills, flats doesn’t  matter just concentrate on spinning and paddling.

Frequency & Distance:

  • Frequency and distance, these are the key factors, riding bike for a long enough time will help reduce the fat reserves which makes true really lasting weight loss. At first do two miles specially if you are the beginner, however, pick up the riding milage slowly. To be safe increase one mile after one week but be consistent and always keep some kind of drink while road bike cycling.

The action plan for road bike cycling weight reduction:

  • Ride the bike daily as long as you can possibly bear but keep it at lower intensity. It's recommended that you should do the riding one more time after completing the previous one. This will aid casting your fundamental husky foundation.
  • To have the best results and an effective bike cycling exercise out come, try to interchange the bike acceleration as much as possible. To get the results you want as fast as possible from this exercise, start off with a regular speed than rashly paddle faster for few moments after that readily come back to starting normal speed. In order to get the best results repeate the process for at least six times and as far as your stamina allows you.
  • Intentionally go up the hills as much as you can but don't forget to recover and try again.
  • As an precautionary measure work out a little before the start and at the end of bike cycling workout cool the system down with a cool drink of your choice.

Have a great Road Bike Cycling experience!
